Welcome to the 5.11 Tactical Fire and EMS Gear blog. Here we will review the latest and greatest new products from 5.11 Tactical as they relate to the Fire and EMS industries. 5.11 Tactical is well known for their police and military products, but has not also entered the Fire EMS sectors. Here is what 5.11 Tactical has to say about it:
Fire BBQ’s are one part of the marketing campaigns that 5.11 has created to support the introduction of the new Fire/EMS line and to bring end-users directly to the dealer’s stores. The BBQ’s began at the end of September in Utah and Colorado and will continue until the middle of November with the last of 2008’s BBQ’s in Pennsylvania and New York. The BBQ’s are an opportunity to invite departments to your store to see the new fire sections created with the 5.11 fixtures and to learn more about the new 5.11 fire line. For many of the firemen and paramedics the BBQ is the first time they have ever been into the dealer’s store.
Many of the firemen and paramedics arrived expecting hamburgers and hot dogs and were happily surprised to get a hearty steak sandwich, salad and cookies, prepared on-site, by 5.11 staff from headquarters. The local 5.11 sales rep has also been present at the BBQ’s to do product presentations, and to sign up attendees for raffle prizes that are given away during the BBQ. This allows the dealers to be able to focus on customer service and making sales during the BBQ.
If you have a BBQ coming up then you should start thinking of ways to get Fire & EMS personnel to your store. Several of the dealers have added their own twist to make the BBQ more enticing. This includes offering a special discount for the day, GWP’s and/or additional raffle prizes. It is important to get creative for those coming to your store.
We are looking forward to co-hosting BBQ’s with over 90 dealers at their stores in 2009. After the holidays we will begin working with local sales reps and dealers to set-up specific dates for BBQ’s during our scheduled time in their part of the country.
